"Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy."(Leviticus 19:2)
Meditation
So, where do we extract leadership principles from Leviticus? Let’s be honest, you (and I…) would not flip open our Bibles to the twenty-seven chapters of Leviticus to become a more developed leader. But, the Word of God reveals many leadership truths that are important for every believer. The God of the Bible is perfect and holy. He is completely and absolutely good, in all his ways. This is one of the most important characteristics of God that is developed throughout the book of Leviticus. The Hebrew word for “holy”, qodesh, appears over one hundred times in the book - emphasizing the important truth that God is totally separate from evil.
In the nineteenth chapter of Leviticus, the Lord speaks to Moses and gives a general call to His people to be holy. That same call is for God’s children today. This call to holiness reveals our desperate need for perfect righteousness that can only be found in the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ’s blood shed on the cross.
Leaders - pave the way in pursuing holiness. Be salt and light to the world. Love your neighbor, as well as your enemy. Set an example that others want to follow, so the name of Christ is on full display to a watching world.
Quote
"As we grow in holiness, we grow in hatred of sin; and God, being infinitely holy, has an infinite hatred of sin."
