“Not guilty; let him go free”

Writer's picture: Cam ArminioCam Arminio
What would those words mean to you if you were on death row? The fact is that the whole human race is on death row. Justly condemned for repeatedly breaking God’s holy law. Without Jesus we would have no hope at all. But thank God, our Judge! Only through Jesus, He has declared us not guilty and has offered us freedom from sin and power to do his will.

Visualize this - you’re sitting on death row. You’re awaiting to be sent to the electric chair for breaking the law repeatedly. Death is the anticipated outcome that you no longer can escape by yourself. You’re filled with regret, embarrassment, guilt, and sorrow. You’ve not only let yourself down, but you’ve let down the people closest to you. The end is near. The final decision is in. But, before the judge can say a word, with tears in your eyes you plead with him... “Forgive me, judge! I do not deserve your pardon, but I desperately ask for your grace and mercy. There’s nothing I can do to right my wrongs, but I cry out to you for a second chance.” Without hesitation, the judge announces, “not guilty; let him go free.” You look to the judge undeservingly grateful. The judge looks back with love in his eyes, “Go on. You are forgiven and set free of your mistakes. Remember this and move forward reflecting the grace and forgiveness you’ve been shown”. Call upon our Judge for forgiveness, grace, and mercy. Without hesitation, He will lovingly pardon you from your sin and grant you innocence through Christ our Savior. Every past mistake, shortfall, and failure is washed away. A new life and a new hope is waiting for you. The destination is no longer the “electric chair”. Rather, it is in Heaven with One who gave up His life for you.
