Know Your Identity

Meditation

The heart of a leader is knowing their identity in Him. God has designed each of us in His likeness - without fault or mistake. We can have confidence in the biblical promise that we are a graphic image of the One who created the heavens and the earth. God graciously allows us to proclaim this as true when we face trials and tribulations of this life. And, it is certain that they will come ( James 1:2-4). Being rooted and established in God’s Word reminds us of our value and purpose on this side of heaven.

It is important to note that being created in the image of God does not mean we are perfect, like God. Actually, we are far from it! But, our Father loves us so deeply that in the midst of our sin and shortcomings, we are admired, appreciated, forgiven, and reconciled because of the blood shed on the cross through His Son, Jesus Christ - who willingly gave up His life for us.

Our identity plays a vital role in how we see ourselves, others, and most importantly, our Heavenly Father. As we put our worth in Him, rather than our worth in external circumstances - we can walk boldly, freely, and confidently as light in a world of darkness.

Quote

"True freedom is not choice or lack of constraint, but being what you are meant to be. Humans were created in the image of God. True freedom, then, is not found in moving away from that image but only in living it out."

- Augustine of Hippo -

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank you for creating me in your image. I am undeserving of your unconditional love, grace, and mercy. But, through your Son, Jesus Christ, I have value and purpose. May I grow in my understanding of who You have created me to be as admired, appreciated, forgiven, and reconciled. Fill me with your Spirit and protect me from the lies and deception of the enemy. Sanctify me into your image and allow me to be a light in a world of darkness. Amen.
